POLYURETHANE (PU) FOAM
Spray applied or injected PU foam (commonly known as spray foam) has a K-value in the range of 0.025 to 0.028w/mK and as such provides extremely high insulation values.
Spray foam is produced on site using specialist machinery by fully trained, approved installers to ensure quality control and performance.
Spray foam insulation products can be closed cell or open cell. Closed cell has a lower thermal conductivity, can be used for stabilisation, has less air leakage and stops the passage of water. Open cell spray foam is more breathable, has better acoustic properties and costs less than closed cell spray insulation.
The Energy Saving Trust estimates that 25% of a home’s heat loss is through the roof, 35% is through the walls and 25% is through air leakage or draughts so cavity wall and loft/roof insulation are two of the most effective energy efficiency measures for the home.
Spray foam can be used in a number of insulation applications including: loft/roof, loft conversion, walls, floors, ceilings and to fill voids and gaps.
The foam helps to reduce heat loss and draughts so reducing your energy bills and making your home feel more comfortable. With a warmer home you should be able to turn the heating down by a degree or two – not only saving energy and money, but this may help to extend the life of your boiler too.
It isn’t only domestic properties that can benefit from being properly insulated, many commercial buildings can be insulated using spray foam including; factories, warehouses, retail/exhibition spaces, offices, soffits and agricultural buildings. For many of these spray foam will also help prevent surface and interstitial condensation which provides benefits for the use of these buildings.
